
This course covers stressors and techniques for stress management. Topics include self-advocacy, relaxation techniques, mindfulness, coping skills, time management, and priority alignment. Upon completion, students should be able to identify areas of stress and the skills and techniques for dealing with stressors.

This course introduces the types of crises and the principles of intervention. Emphasis is placed on identifying culturally competent techniques for intervening in various crisis situations. Upon completion, students should be able to assess crisis situations and respond effectively.

This course covers the physical, emotional, psychological, and cultural aspects of the addictive process. Emphasis is placed on disorders related to addictions to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, work, gambling, internet, and relationships. Upon completion, students should be able to identify the effects, prevention strategies, and treatment methods associated with addictive disorders.

This course provides techniques, approaches, and experiential methodology for implementing and documenting animal assisted interactions. Emphasis is placed on applying the knowledge and animal handling skills to create safe, ethical, goal-oriented interactions within various environments with proper documentation. Upon completion, students should be able to design and document an animal assisted interaction visit for a specific population.

This course covers the capacities of different species for work with diverse goals and populations in animal interactions and introduces components critical to animals' well-being. Emphasis is placed on expanding critical thinking, and competence in animal handling and management skills necessary for development as a well-rounded, responsible animal handler. Upon completion, students should be able to identify interaction risks, animal handling and training practices, and assess animal interaction effectiveness.

This course covers intellectual and developmental disabilities. Emphasis is placed on causes of intellectual/developmental disabilities, service provision and advocacy. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a general knowledge of serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
